Ain't Shit Sweet
".... We can't stop"
- Puff Daddy
People of color were conditioned to see our race just like the rest of the world.
We are reminded of our inferiority more often then white people's superiority is even enforced. We are branded by our own nation, yet we still feel alive and want to live free. I bleed blood like the rest of humanity, the air in my lungs isn’t for colored people only, but my brown skin grants me a label as a black minority in America. Never seen as a person first always as a black woman.
I cannot speak for anyone else but the #BlackLivesMatter movement is more than a scream for help to me. #BlackLivesMatter is not a white hate group and it doesn't preach black superiority. We are people who want to be treated like people. It’s really that fucking simple. This movement is not just something to do. It’s more than a hashtag. This movement is painting a vivid picture of the lack of Humanity here in the states. All this talk of “minorities”, there is nothing minor about the impact black culture has on America. There is nothing minor about the mistreatment of black lives. There is nothing small about the hundreds of years our ancestors spent building this place. There is nothing minute about the flavor we gave and still give to keep this place tolerable and moderately tasteful. You can’t spell America without US. I am a person not property. I understand my value. We are human beings. Most of us understand our true value as people and American citizens. I don’t believe that racism is a myth. I don’t believe cops’ killing us is a coincidence. I believe that people of color and our supportive counterparts are done bending over and taking the bullshit. I believe we have a few choices to make. Speak up or stand up? Protest, march, strike or riot? Will your music speak or your art? Will you fight or use finances? Power of the pen or the sword? Doesn’t matter what you choose just decide to live actively. Doesn't matter how close we are to the finish line, we gotta keep that rhythm, we gotta keep that drive, we deserve that gold.
